The programme is designed to provide extra support to those students who have the academic ability to attend high tariff universities, but who also flag for contextual admissions/widening participation criteria.
During the trip, students were given a talk about the LSE, including academic and student life and top tips for making a competitive application, followed by a tour of LSE's world-class campus. They were able to meet some current students and learn firsthand what it's like to study at one of the best universities in the UK.
This was the first trip of the Beyond Charter Programme but plans are being made for future opportunities. So far, Beyond Charter students have also benefited from workshops on access schemes and contextual offers, with opportunity to apply for some of these programmes.
