Superb year for GCSE students at TCSED

The Charter School East Dulwich is celebrating another set of impressive GCSE results, with students excelling across a wide range of subjects, from the sciences and humanities to music and film studies.

Alison Harbottle, Headteacher, said "We are extremely proud of our Year 11 students, whose hard work and resilience over the past two years has been reflected in today's results. Every student here deserves recognition for their commitment to their studies. These achievements are also testament to the dedication and expertise of our staff, and the continued support of families across our school community."
Combined English and Maths results were a particular highlight, with 80% of students achieving a grade 4 or above in both subjects - up on last year - and 61% achieving a grade 5 or above in both. Individually, 87% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English and 83% in Maths, while 82% achieved a grade 4 or above across their two Sciences. Overall, 65% of grades awarded were at grade 5 or above, and 32% were at grade 7 or above, with 57% of students achieving at least one grade 7 during their GCSEs. The sciences were a particular strength this year, with Biology, Chemistry and Physics students 70% of grades at grade 7 or above. Film Studies students also excelled, with 91% achieving a grade 4 or above and over 60% reaching a grade 7 or above. Strong results were also seen in Music, History and Geography, with many students securing top grades across the humanities and creative subjects.

Standout individual achievements include:

Clara Batty, who achieved an impressive seven grade 9s and three grade 8s, and Miles Ta, who achieved a fantastic eight grade 9s.

Many students demonstrated excellent progress and outshone their previous mocks including Asa Segor with eight grades at grades 6+, Stevie Blanchfield with three grade 8s, Fin Woods who achieved five grades at 7+ and two grade 9s, Muhammed Ayub with five grades at 6+ and Kwaku (Junior) Boateng with seven grade 6+. Students achieving at least eight grade 7s: Gabriel Turner, Seb Vacassin, Daniela Ramirez Ortega, Mia Hill, Margarita Kornilova, Rose Francis, Katherine Elias, Holly Hardy, Felicie Rennie, Eliza Shaddick, Isobel Ferreira Durrant, Dorsey Stirling, Mira Swanepoel, Dylan Payne and Thomas Bateson.

Ms Harbottle added:, "These results reflect not only the academic achievements of our students, but also the care, resilience and tenacity they have shown throughout their time at Charter East Dulwich. We are delighted that the majority of our students will be staying on with us at Sixth Form, while others are moving on to college and vocational courses that will help them pursue their next steps and future ambitions. As they continue on their journey of learning, we know they have built a solid foundation for success here with us and we wish them all the best for the future.”
