Today staff and students at The Charter School East Dulwich are celebrating their second year of A-level and BTEC

results since opening the Sixth Form in 2021. Results increased on last year’s excellent first cohort and students across

the year group excelled in their outcomes.

We are exceptionally proud of all our students. We have been continually impressed by their commitment, enthusiasm

and perseverance over the past two years. This strong set of results is a testament to their hard work, led by a team of

dedicated staff.

• The average A-level Point Score was 37.1 (Grade B) – above National and Southwark 2023 averages.

• 27% of all A-level grades sat by students achieved A*/A, with 56% at a grade B or higher.

• 80% of all A-level grades sat by students at the school achieved A*-C, an increase from 73% in 2023.

• 68% students achieved at least one B grade or higher and 40% at least one A grade.

• 54% of BTEC grades were Distinction or Distinction* with 82% of students achieving a Merit or above.

The vast majority of students will progress to their first choice of university, college or apprenticeship with 80% of

students securing a place at their choice of university. Subject areas which particularly excelled include Physics (40%

A*/A), Sociology (52% A*/A), English Literature (86% B+) and BTEC Sports (70 % Distinction*/Distinction)

The Charter School East Dulwich is an inclusive, diverse, state-funded secondary school in South East London.

Established in 2016 the school has grown from an initial intake of 120 to over 1300 students with the Sixth Form

provision opening in September 2021. Our mission is to celebrate our diverse community, educating our students to

thrive and confidently shape their futures with a love of learning, excellent qualifications and strength of character.

Today, Headteacher Alison Harbottle reflected:

“I am so proud of all our Year 13 students and their wonderful A-level results achieved this summer. Their hard work and

dedication to their studies has really paid off with so many excited to be joining their first choice universities and courses

next year. I would also like to thank our staff and families for their support and guidance for our students over the last

two years. As we celebrate these results together I wish all our Year 13s the very best in their next steps.”

Our fantastic students are now leaving us for a range of exciting courses, Jai Brand (Architecture, Cardiff University),

Alexa Ball (Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Cardiff University), Gus Leggat (UAL, Music Production),

Amira Collins (Queen Mary University of London, Biology), Nazifa Munayem (University of Bristol, Politics and International Relations),

Mouna Soussi (Queen Mary University of London, Business Management), Emer Gillion Turner (University of Leeds, Ancient History), Thomas

Griffiths (University of Cambridge, Computer Science) and Lauren Haggis (University of Oxford, Law).

Special mentions go out to the following students who have all made outstanding progress; Rayaan B-Beraki, Chloe

Balogun, Endi Kika, Hannah Lewis, Mouna Soussi, Carmen Wilson. Precious Afolabi and Waeil Ali also shone through,

both achieving two Distinctions in their BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate Qualifications in Sport and Business.

With 27% of all grades at A or A* the following students stood out, achieving all A* to A to all their subjects with at least

one A*

We offer all our Year 13 students and their families a huge congratulations on these wonderful achievements and we

wish them the very best in their year ahead, we know they are ready to take on the next steps in their journey and

thrive.
