Did you know that Tina The Musical uses 138 wigs? Every night on the show, there are only six staff in the wig department who work backstage on wigs, each of which takes about three days to prepare!
Other departments that spoke included lighting automation, costume design, sound engineering and stage management, showing us just how many roles and opportunities there are available to work in theatre! Understanding this side of theatre is integral to the Drama GCSE course and to see this first hand was invaluable.
The Charter East School would like to thank the Music and Drama department for arranging this collaborative and eye opening experience for our students. We look forward to working with Macintosh Theatres in the future to take part in some of their smaller careers workshops, giving our students even deeper insight into some of these backstage roles within theatre and musicals.
